A startup faces a bunch of hurdles.
Probably the most disingenuous is the pressure to scale.
The current business structures and funding models we use to create digital businesses are predicated on the ability to magically scale.
Why? Because it’s easier to copy digital bits than real-life widgets, the assumption is that it must be easy to scale.
But we’re not scaling bits, we’re scaling people and human relationships.
That’s not so easy to scare. In fact, people and relationships and understanding and meaning and everything that is unseen and unsaid are really really hard to scale.
