SYDNEY (Boscutti Report) — Former Prime Minister Tony Abbott has launched a campaign to rename Australia’s national day of celebration ‘Britain Day’.
‘British settlement was a very good thing – it’s something that all of us, on balance, can and should be proud of,’ he said.
‘It’s something we should celebrate.’
Mr Abbott suggested Australians couldn’t afford to ‘wallow in endless, carping self-criticism.’
‘Self-awareness is the last thing we need,’ he said.
