Introducing tote bags or charity auctions muddies the waters, gets us thinking about the value of thing we bought, not the story itself. (People basically turn into bargain hunters.)
If people aren’t donating to our cause, it’s because we’re not telling the right story, or telling the wrong story to the wrong people (in the wrong way).
Non-profits make change and the way we do this is by letting people tell themselves stories that nurture their best selves.
