Scenes from the city: Tale of two cities

It’s the best of times, it’s the worst of times.

There are two posters behind the glass walls of the new tram stop in a suburb synonymous with wealth and privilege.

One poster is for Lurpak Butter with a glistening, mouth-watering roast lamb being topped with fresh glazed peas and chopped shallots. So much appetite appeal for the imported Danish you can almost taste it. Expensive linen tea towels on the waxed timber counter. Soft focus luxury farmhouse-style kitchen in the background.

The other poster is for a food charity with a graphic yellow background and bold black type. The headline says, ‘This year one in five Australians will go hungry’.
