Two-step process
Creating and editing are not one and the same.
Separate the processes of creating from improving. We can’t simultaneously write and edit, or simultaneously sculpt and polish, or simultaneously make and analyze. When we try we just block ourselves. It’s like pressing down on the accelerator pedal and the brake pedal at the same time in a car. It’s a great way to get nowhere. And probably blow up the engine in the process.
When we invent, don’t select. When we sketch, don’t inspect. When we write, don’t reflect.
When we begin, the creative mind must be unleashed from judgement.
Create without a second thought.
Or second guess.
