Where have all the readers gone?

Sustained reading has fallen to new lows.

Recreational reading is now at the lowest levels ever recorded. From 2004 to 2017, the number of American men who read for pleasure dropped by 40 percent, women by 29 percent.

The number of people who have never read a book in the past few decades has tripled.
